Les Arcs Snow Report: 16th December 2014

WOODY’S WEVVER WEPORT: THE WETURN

featured in Snow report Author Woody K, Les Arcs Reporter Updated

Greetings fellow snow enthusiasts! Not a whole lot to report this week, sadly, but we are definitely getting to the magical conditions that we are so used to experiencing here, in Les Arcs.

The snow has fallen, once again, but only very timidly. The 1000+ students that are ravaging the resort may have scared off Mother Nature for a little bit longer! It snowed approximately 5cms in 2000 and 1950, with a centimetre for 1800 and a light dusting for 1600.

The conditions on the pistes remain the same, with very little open and too many people. The snow is not as bad as everyone is making out and if you stick to the general rules of piste safety then they’ll be fewer trips down in the blood wagon!

Three of the most important rules being: CONTROL YOUR SPEED, PRIORITY TO THE SKIER IN FRONT and REMEMBER TO LOOK BOTH WAYS WHEN CROSSING THE PISTES AND COMING ON AND OFF THE PISTES. Even some of the most seasoned skiers and boarders are opting to wear helmets these days and The Bear, who has “poo-pooed” helmet wearing actually said he wished he’d been wearing one on the slopes. That’s how dangerous it was.

If you do venture out, head straight to 2000 via the Transarc. There are a few lifts open over that way and a couple of runs. The Aiguille Rouge and Bois de l’ours are also open but only for pedestrians. If you are in staying in Peisey/Vallandry then you can catch the shuttle bus to 1800.

We are expecting some more snow this afternoon and throughout the next couple of days, finally!!!! Hopefully you’ll be getting so many snow dump alerts that you’ll be sick of hearing from me, fingers crossed! The weather will remain the same with high humidity and elevated temperatures for this time of year, but snow is en route. Not a whole heap of snowy goodness but it’s better than a slap in the face!
