Les Arcs Snow Report: 10th February 2015

WOODY’S WEVVER WEPORT: WUVVERS IN FWANCE, THE VALENTINE’S SPECIAL

featured in Snow report Author Woody K, Les Arcs Reporter Updated

Welcome to the very special valentine’s wevver weport. The weather will be exceptional for the majority of the week with sunshine from Bourg St Maurice right up to the Aiguille Rouge. This does not mean hot and steamy weather, but it does mean blue skies that are perfect for some lurve riding. The temperatures are going to drop again on Wednesday evening so cozy up with your loved ones and stay snugly buggly.

The snow is set to return on Thursday evening and will continue on until Saturday. So, good news for all of you lovely lovers arriving next weekend, the snow will be replenished for you to have some slidy fun times. The next few weeks are incredibly, phenomenally, insanely busy so please be careful everybody. Feel free to check out the rules of the piste that I mentioned a few snow reports ago, very helpful for everybody more concerned with the pistes than pleasing their partners. We have 53/54 lifts open and 102/108 pistes ready to be ravaged.

So how is this a Valentine’s themed report? Well, I am going to list some of the most romantic places/ways to spend your Valentine’s days and nights.

1/. Horse drawn sleigh ride at Le Fer à Cheval in Peisey. Experience a romantic traineaux à cheval through the majestic Peisey Nancroix valley, snuggled up underneath a blanket. It’s also a fabulous little restaurant with a roaring fire and possibly the best vin chaud in Les Arcs, delish! Reservations only - 33 (0)4 79 07 90 88

2/. Village Igloo, Arc 2000. This is a once in a lifetime experience that is both impressive and fun. The igloo village is situated at the bottom of the Arcabulle chairlift in 2000 and every year the igloo is recreated with even more magnificent ice sculptures. You can visit the grotto throughout the day (for children under 6 the entry is free) and at night time you can have après ski in the ice bar, stay for dinner in the surprisingly comfy ice restaurant or spend the night in your very own private room, made entirely out of ice. For more information please visit Black Sheep's website.

3/. Mongolian Yurts, Arc 1950. Another unusual adventure slightly incongruous to the mountain landscape but brilliant fun just the same. You can enjoy an aperitif or dinner in these warm and friendly yurts after a short snowshoe to reach your destination. The aperitif is free for children and prices for adults start at 20 euros. Speak to Evolution 2 for more information.

4/. The Aiguille Rouge. Something that is free and to be enjoyed by everyone, even the non-skiers of the group! The Aiguille Rouge is the highest point in the Paradiski area. It offers the most sensational 360° view of the mountains and it is an absolutely breathtaking sight. Obviously the best days to go are sunny, bluebird days so you can get the most out of the scenery with views of the Mont Blanc, Tignes to name a few. Many of the more romantic fellows have proposed to their ladies on this very peak and most of the recipients have been so overwhelmed they’ve said yes. It is an ideal place for a picnic/proposal/champagne etc and is easily reached. You can take the Varet bubble followed by the Aiguille Rouge cable car, so it is accessible to pedestrians. If you’re skiing then it’s path down to the Varet bubble or you can ski one of the longest runs in Europe to the bottom of the Villaroger.

5/. Deep Nature Spa, Arc 1800 and 1950. There are three Deep Nature Spas in Les Arcs: Hotel de Golf Arc 1800, Les Alpages de Chantel and Sources de Marie 1950. The largest of these is in 1950 and has various different themes caves, spa+lunch sessions and couples therapies. Hotel de Golf has a sauna and hammam with couple’s treatments as well. Share a moment of relaxation and serenity with your partner or offer them a spa session/treatment to let them know that their well-being is your highest priority.

If you are already in Les Arcs and you want to be in with a chance to experience something truly amazing. On Thursday 12th February the Vanoise Express will be hosting the SkyDiner, cocktails and a five course dinner in the Vanoise cabin suspended at 1750m altitude over the Ponthurin valley between the La Plagne and Les Arcs massifs.

The Vanoise cabins will be redecorated for this unique evening in a baroque chic style, with chandeliers, candelabras and tables and chairs, all this to compliment the sublime Paradiski panorama. To be in with chance to share in this special night with a select few all you have to have done is to buy a Paradiski lift pass from 7th to 14th February. Winners will be selected at random and notified by the lift pass company. I’ll let you know how amazing/terrifying it all was on Friday or maybe I’ll see you there!
