Bourg St Maurice sits in the heart of the Tarentaise valley with easy access to Les Arcs via the funicular in the old town, which takes around 7 minutes. You're within driving distance to all the major resorts in the Paridiski area where you have access to 182 ski lifts and around 425km of pistes, 2 snow-parks, 5 boarder cross tracks and a half pipe - more than enough for you winter holiday!
Bourg is a little different from the usual ski resorts in that it's a functioning town year-round and is brimming with shops, restaurants, banks, a cinema and museum.
There are a few nursery options available for families staying in the area (visit the childcare page for more information).
There's also easy access to Bourg St Maurice by train as the Eurostar high speed connection from London St Pancras International pulls into town on a regular basis.
There are lots of restaurants in Bourg St Maurice. There are 2 that really stand out from the usual Savoyard menu though. For excellent, freshly made and locally sourced food at very competative prices head to Le Bistro D'Alpin. It's located on the main high street opposite the Mairie. The second restaurant that deserves recognition is L'Arssiban. It is a little out of the centre of Bourg and that gives it a calm and pleasing atmosphere. The menu is excellent and although it's not cheap you pay for what you get, which is top notch gourmet food. They also bake their own bread and have an excellent menu of the day. You'll find this little gem on the Avenue Antoine Borrel.
Book My Restaurant
Being such a hub of Alpine activity and being close to around 8 different ski resorts, it is difficult to choose bewteen the hundreds of brilliant activities/places to see. We would definitely suggest that if you have never been white water rafting this is a cracking place to do it, the Isere is truly beautiful and the gorges are magnificent (however, we'd suggest you only do this in the Summer). We would also suggest having a trip up to the Italian border either by car and then you can visit the very pretty town of Aosta for some limoncello. Or the Fort de Platte is spectacular, it's located in Beaufortain and was built at the end of the 19th century in case of an invasion from Italy. You can reach it by heading towards Chapieux and then Echines-dessous.
Things to Do nearby
In the winter there is a vast skiing/snowboarding area that links up with La Plagne to create the Paradiski area, one of the largest in the world. There is freeskiing, snowshoeing, ice skating, dog sledding, sledging, skidooing and ice caves! In the summer there are lots of activities as well; swimming; rafting; canoeing; hiking; mountain biking; cycling; horse riding; golfing; rock-climbing etc. You will not be bored!

There is a 18 hole golf course at Les Arcs and Tignes in Summer.

The easiest way to get to the pistes from Bourg St Maurice is via the funiculaire. It runs everyday during the winter and summer months and is free with a lift pass.
Bourg St Maurice has quite a varied nightlife, although for a town of its size not a huge quantity of bars and clubs. There is Bazoom which is on the main road opposite the train station. They are also a restaurant and they have a little terrace out the front of the bar. They have reasonably priced drinks and live music. The Tonneau is another bar that is often frequented by locals and tourists alike. It is a convenient meeting point, next to the train station on the roundabout and has quick, friendly service. Another place that deserves a mention is La Cantina. It's more of a summer spot, located in the rafting area on the river with an enormous sunny garden and excellent food. La Cantina also has live music.
