This renowned ski school is France's national school and the largest within the country. It offers quality tuition from highly trained instructors for all levels of skiers and snowboarders in a variety of languages.
In Les Arcs 1950 & 2000, ESF have over 100 instructors and mountain guides, and are well equipped for children and adult beginners on skis or snowboards, with a designated safe area that includes five free ski lifts and 3 fully equipped chalets.
The offer group morning, afternoon or full day lessons with packages for beginners that include equipment and ski hire. If you prefer to learn one to one, then private lessons are also available from 1 hour up to a full day.
If you prefer to do something a little different, then ESF offer snowshoe walks where you'll literally be off the beaten track. They are a great way to explore areas that you wouldn't necessarily find on skis.
Mountain guides can be booked to take you into the backcountry and try off-piste or freeride skiing under careful supervision. It doesn't matter if you don't have any experience, but you must be red-run competent.
Private ski lessons
Whether you are a skier or a snowboarder, a complete beginner or someone with years of experience, you can benefit from one to one tuition to help you master techniques and improve your overall confidence on the mountain.
In Les Arcs 1950 & 2000, ESF have over 100 fully qualified ski instructors and mountain guides. They offer private tuition to those who prefer taking things at their own pace rather than skiing or snowboarding with a group. You can set your personal goals with your instructor and they will help you achieve them.
You can choose to enjoy your lesson with friends and family or a similar level but the maximum group size is 10. Lessons can take from 1 hour to a full day (7 hours).
There is also the possibility of having freestyle lessons, a discipline that combines the fundamentals of skiing and thrills of acrobatics which includes combining aerial tricks on a snowboard or skis. Supervised by competent and qualified instructors of ESF Arc 1950 & 2000, you will discover and practice freestyle (big air, rails, box on the Snow Park of Les Arcs), in a fun and safe atmosphere. Wearing a helmet is mandatory and back protection is recommended. It is advisable to book in advance because during school holidays slots are limited. It is strongly recommended that there's a minimum of 2 students per lesson.
NB: During the school holidays, private lessons can be reserved in advance for weekends only, or at lunchtime (11:45 - 14:15). For last minute bookings the ski school office is open on Monday morning. Outside of school holidays, you can reserve your private lessons for a time of your choosing.
