About the villages of Les Arcs

About the villages of Les Arcs

Les Arcs is a series of self-contained resorts that are staggered across the mountainside. The first one that you come to as you wind up the mountain road is Arc 1600, the original resort. It is linked to Bourg St Maurice, the town at the bottom of the valley, by a funicular train. Off to the right from Arc 1600 is Arc 1800 (4.6km), the largest of the resorts. Off to the left and above Arc 1600 are Arc 1950 (10.3km) and Arc 2000 (11.6km). Free shuttle buses link all these resorts. Further around the mountainside from Arc 1800 are the traditional villages of Plan Peisy (5km) and Vallandry (6km). These quieter villages lie at a lower altitude and offer some lovely chalet accommodation and great access to both Les Arcs and La Plagne ski areas. Villaroger is a tiny and secluded hamlet at the other end of the Les Arcs ski area. Take a look at the piste map to see where the villages are located on the mountainside.
