Peisey - Vallandry

A cluster of small villages in the valley between La Plagne & Les Arcs

Featured in:

Peisey - Vallandry

Peisey/Vallandry is an extremely pretty group of villages. Vallandry is located at the bottom of the slopes and the rest of Peisey is at the bottom of the Lonzagne lift (or the lobster/yoghurt pots). This is the place for chalets and there are a bucket load! Lots of locals live in this area and the atmosphere is sleepy and picturesque.

The closest town to Les Arcs is Bourg Saint Maurice. This is accessed via the funiculaire that runs everyday during the Winter and Summer seasons between Les Arcs 1600 and Bourg Saint Maurice. There is a friendly local community and a few large supermarkets. There is also a swimming pool, train station and cinema. There is a free bus service between Les Arcs and Peisey. There is also a bus service that goes all the way down to Landry.

Sights & Attractions in Peisey-Vallandry / Nancroix

The Mont Blanc is visible from all of the Les Arcs villages. There are two very special places that you need to visit in Peisey but unfortunately one of them can only be reached during the summer months. Notre Dame de Vernettes is a beautiful chapel at the top of a hill that is magnificently painted inside. You can reach the chapel by skiing (you must have a good level) or either hiking up from Vallandry (it's signposted) or from Peisey Nancroix there is a road you can follow. You can also horseride up. The second place that you need to visit is Lac de La Plagne. This is quite a long hike to the lake at the end but the way there is is fairly gentle and goes through the Vanoise National Park. You start at the very end of Peisey Nancroix valley and follow the signs, even if you stay around this area you will see some beautiful sights.

Nightlife in Peisey-Vallandry / Nancroix

The busiest village in Peisey/Vallandry is definitely Vallandry. The best bar to go to is the Bar Mont Blanc situated next to the piste directly underneath the Grizzly chairlift. They have very decent food, live music and comedy nights. Another bar in Vallandry with a slightly different vibe is Mojos bar located in the main village underneath the Peisey chairlift.
